Crowns and bridges are an excellent option when it comes to restoring damaged, decayed or missing teeth. At Creating Smiles, our crowns and bridges are made from high-quality, natural-looking materials.
If you have damaged, decayed or misshapen teeth, a dental crown can be used to completely cover or “cap” the problematic tooth, restoring it to its natural function and appearance. They can also be used to protect a tooth after root canal treatment or to support a dental bridge. They are most commonly recommended when there isn’t enough enamel to fix a damaged tooth with a filling or to protect a weak tooth from fracturing further.
Crowns can be applied over the course of two appointments. The first appointment will be when we prepare your tooth and take impressions which a dental laboratory will then use to create your custom dental crown. The second appointment is when we will place your dental crown.
Dental bridges are most commonly used to replace a missing tooth or several teeth in a row. The gaps left by missing teeth can cause your other teeth to shift or rotate unnaturally into the empty spaces. Therefore, it’s important to get a replacement tooth as quickly as possible.
Dental bridges use your natural teeth as anchors to create a secure and stable attachment point for the replacement tooth. Crowns are typically placed over the teeth that will be used as anchors. The replacement teeth, called the pontics, will be attached to the crowns and fit in the gap left by missing teeth.
